Expertise, practice, and a warm welcome rolled into one.
Johns Hopkins University School of Education
The team of communication experts at JHU were “all in” on bringing to life the ideas we presented to unify the academic and research sides of the house, and show - at the ground level - the school’s global education leadership and impact.
Project at a Glance
- Research to Practice ethos expressed by real people of SOE
- Paths to revenue-generating research center solutions
- One newsroom experience, incorporating three newsfeeds
Making Connections Visible
We helped the School of Education (“SOE”) reveal the connections that make it a special place. We made connections between students and SOE’s many communities; between its people and Baltimore; between outstanding academic programs and world-changing research centers - and the dedicated experts in both; and between a young, ambitious school and its 147-year-old university. The new site is all SOE, but worthy of JHU's reputation for excellence.
Unleashing Creativity with a Single Design Component
The SOE team was full of creative content developers. We played to their strengths and created a modular design system centered on a single component: the Card. The CMS was like the team’s new Play Doh set. They could mix and match content, show one or many cards together, make them image heavy or text heavy, and fill them with links, while keeping every card classy and colorful.
Sending Leads to Revenue-Generating Tools and Services
When we discovered that SOE’s centers and institutes put their research into action with problem-solving tools for educators, we wanted to place these tools within easy reach. Now, JHU SOE has a concierge service called Solutions that directs professionals to the right tool for each challenge. One center director called this way of packaging tools and services the “Holy Grail.” Great websites make win-win connections.
Centralizing the Nations Homeschool Resources
We built the Homeschool Hub as a resource for SOE's Institute for Education Policy to encourage informed policy-making. The hub hosts relevant state-by-state data on homeschooling participation in the US which had been collected from various organizations and agencies, such as the NCES and DOEs.
