Celebrating the history and sophistication of an iconic American home.
Ford House
The Edsel and Eleanor Ford House is a museum, an event destination, an outdoor park, a showcase of period specific interior design, and above all, a former family home. Our challenge was to create a unified experience that welcomed visitors to think about Ford House from every perspective.
Project at a Glance
- Prominent ‘Today at Ford House’ section on the homepage
- Intuitive pathways that guide visitors to each vantage point, such as ‘The Estate’, ‘The Ford Family’, ‘Visit’, ‘Events’, and ‘Visitors Center’.
- Minimal design that echoed the classic architecture
Educating and Inspiring Visitors
"We really felt that everyone was thoughtful, thorough and really understood us as an organization. One of the reasons we loved the Fastspot team is we felt that design wise they really got us."
- Clare Pfeiffer, Director of Communications and Engagement
Expanding Perspectives
The web provides a space for complex brands and institutions to present themselves as the sum of their parts on the homepage while also giving each respective part its own space and focus. In the case of Ford House, that meant parsing out the wealth of information along several organizational methods - chronological, topical, and spatial. The Ford House is a living and breathing place with a variety of events and ways to experience it. It is also a place with a story to tell from a historical perspective, and is therefore focused on both the future and the past.
We separated the contemporary visitor-focused pieces of the site from the Ford Family and The Estate, which are more archival and historical in nature, to provide website visitors with information that’s most important to them. With ever changing information such as visit schedules and itineraries in mind, we built useful reference pages with clear and efficient pathways to core tasks and transactions. We also ensured content components allowed users to page through and explore the historical images, facts, and timelines with ease.
